Located high in Sierra Madre Mountains, Mexico is this wonderful modern contemporary home designed by Gilberto Rodriguez of GLR Architects seeks to establish an intimate contact with the natural environment in which it is positioned.

Featuring mostly natural materials including a lot of stone work this beautiful home boasts its own oak forrest garden and views to die for from the roof terrace over loooking the Sierra Madre Mountains. From the dining room and the media room one can experience the view clear to the Mountains as well as the city of Monterrey.

Of course there is also a unique fireplace in this Mountain Home to keep the family warm in those cold Sierra Madre Winters.

This beautiful remodel of an existing House with Pond started with the demolition of the old house that needed to be completely removed due to serious structural issues however the original property featured a beautiful pond and advanced landscaping.

As you move through the house you will see four seperate yet interconnected buildings , the main house, a home office, a cabana and a stand alone garage – all the buildings sit of the outside of the block facing inwards towards the garden, swimming pool and of course that magnificent Koi fish pond.

This beautiful house features many green touches from solar panels on the roof for both electricity generation and solar hot water both in the design and the build process.

Quite remarkably given the climate of San Francisco the house is not air conditioned, rather it was designed by the Architects to be passively cooled with a combination of overhanging eaves and windows.

Today’s profiled house design is actually a remodeling project rather than a new build,  the original house was a traditional predominately wooden framed house located in Sag Habour New York.

This amazing wooden frame remodeling project was undertaken by the team at Jendretzki Design. They have successfully incorporated elements of the existing wooden framed house into the remodeling project featuring a large number of picture windows that allow light and stunning panormanic views from almost every room in the house.

The design features a few nice “green touches” such as roof mounted solar panels and a elegant rain water collection system and all exterior wood work is done with reclaimed and or recycled wood.

The Kohler’s DT VII performance shower has a digital menu which allows you to set up a personalised shower “experience”. Featuring six shower heads and two shower wands with design lets you experiment a lot. It also has a high quality mp3 player and you can control the light settings inside according to your mood.

Few people would be brave enough to argue that water will not become more valued in the future. The designer of this future bathroom concept keeps this is mind while designing his concept bathroom which reuses the water drained from the sink for flushing the toilet.

Here is another future bathroom concept by designer Young Sang Eun. This particular bathroom design lays emphasis on hygiene. What is special about this design is that on one side it features a urinal and the other a sit-down commode. With the flip of a switch the design is capable of swiveling around. Island Home Design Ideas and Inspiration, check out this amazing Island Home designed in 1905.

Designing a home located on a Island is a dream that few of us will ever realize, here is one stunning example of an inspirational home situated on Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay in US.

This three storey house was built by Architect J.S. Lovering Wharton along with Artist William Trost Richards. Today the home is owned by Boston Architect Henry Wood, he purchased the Island Home in 1961 for just $3,600 !  It had stood empty for two decades.

When the home was completed in 1095 the total cost of the construction was $36,982.99 which would have been a huge sum of money then.

Clingstone, a  103-year-old Island Home in Rhode Island’s Narragansett Bay.

Island Home Design Ideas

The Island Home is called “Clingstone” and had been built by a distant cousin, J.S. Lovering Wharton. Mr. Wharton worked with an artist, William Trost Richards, to create a house of picture windows with 23 rooms on three stories radiating off a vast central hall.
